OOOer…. check out my sausage

I enjoyed last night’s Creative Circle do. The Carry On… theme added to a relaxed atmosphere and created a sense of fun. Though I’m not sure whether the comedy sausage and mash on offer was really in the innuendo tradition of Carry On… It seemed more like a blatant single entendre but was very satisfying to eat.

Nick Constantinou, who hosted the McCann London table I was a guest on, took the shot so deserves a photo credit. And it was a good night for McCann, which scooped a Gold Award for its “Kingmaker” mobile activity for the XBox game Fable 3.

The big winner was The Red Brick Road, which won three Golds and the Platinum for its charming Magners work. Its almost clean sweep of the TV Gold awards baffled some in the audience but was recognition for home grown, affectionate UK activity up against the might of work from bigger agencies and brands.

Trevor Beattie bowed out as president of Creative Circle with an excellent performance in a “Carry on Constable” uniform and introduced a moving tribute to the recently deceased Ron Collins, with an award that was accepted by his son Damon and assorted others from the Collins clan. It was a genuinely moving moment during an otherwise fun evening.
